Ordinarily I don’t like doing a blogger list because I will always forget someone and I feel horrible that they feel left out. I decided to take the plunge with this one though because it wouldn’t be a mental health month without sharing some of the blogs that I love. If you blog about mental illness and you aren’t on the list then please let me know in the comments!
Five Degrees of Chaos
Emma blogs about mental illness from a personal point of view, as well as a carer. She talks about addiction, chronic illness and dealing with a child who has anxiety. Emma also shares stories about her 5 gorgeous girls and her husband Willie. She offers great insight into what it’s like to deal with addiction as a mother, and the impact that it has on her family life.
Babbling Bandit
Vanessa is a single mum with a history of addiction and mental illness. She shares her raw feelings on her blog and I love her honesty. This is the best place to start on Vanessa’s blog. It gives an inside look on the things that lead her to where she is now.
A Blog of Her Own
Dorothy has gone through a few blog name changes over the years but the one thing that hasn’t changed is her voice. She has a no nonsense way of getting to the guts of what it’s like to live with a mental illness. Her words might not be for every one but I love that she isn’t afraid to tell it like it is.
Miss Understood
I first discovered Chantell through a blogging Facebook group last year. She has 4 children and blogs about her experiences with anxiety, depression and an eating disorder. She also makes awesome cakes.
The Mindset Effect
Ali’s blog will remain in my top everything forever I think. It was her blog, and her giving me the chance to do a guest post on her blog that gave me the ability to open up about Borderline Personality Disorder and my experiences with it. Ali blogs about all things concerning the mind. If you want to know something about how the mind works then I suggest checking out her blog.
That Crazy Kat Lady
This list wouldn’t be complete without a mention of my best friends blog. She wrote this post on World Suicide Prevention Day. It was shared over 100 times. She has a way with words that is just awesome.
Finding Myself Young
While Toni mainly blogs about her daughter (who is ridiculously cute by the way!) she does also blog about her experiences with mental illness and the death of her father to suicide. She wrote this post about leaving her abusive ex husband which shows just how strong she really is.
Kiki and Tea
While not really a blog in it’s true form, Kiki and Tea still makes the cut in my eyes. They write a range of posts on mental illness and it’s impact on the writer. They are also open to guest posts so if you have a story to tell then get in contact with Tamsin.
Dialectic Dichotomy
When looking for information about Borderline Personality Disorder, it’s really hard to find information that shows it in a positive light, that shows that recovery is a place we can move towards and doesn’t paint us as bunny boiling psychos. Dialectic Dichotomy ticks all of these boxes. I have been lucky enough to meet the author behind the blog and she is such a caring, funny all round cool person to be friends with.
Queensland Mental Health
Ian is a carer for his wife who has been diagnosed with Schizoaffectic Disorder. He shares who they deal with the mental health system, the challenges that his wife’s diagnosis has bought them and the impact this has had on their life. He also talks about different treatment options available for people with a mental illness.
So there is my list. Do you read any of these blogs? Do you blog about mental illness? Please share your URL in the comments section!
Great post Tegan, you have introduced me to a few blogs I didn’t know about. And thanks a million for including babblingbandit.me!
I think this Mental Health Month has been the best one yet. It seems the whole nation has been discussing mental health issues all week which is awesome. Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for the shout out! It’s been so wonderful to see the response to talking about mental health this month and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the month brings. Such an important conversation xx
I feel honoured that you’ve included The Mindset Effect in this list! And I’m honoured that you found the process of writing your guest post so therapeutic and cathartic and that it has opened your heart to your beauty. You truly rock! Thank you xx
Pingback: Sitting with the darkness
Oh thankyou so much for including my blog Tegan! There are a couple on here that I haven’t read so I’ll have to pop over and check them out.
This is a great list Tegan. So many advocates and people raising awareness. It really does make me want to reach out and give you a hug this week.
Thanks Tegan, this is such a great list to start with, many I haven’t seen before.
It’s always tricky making a list and worrying that you’ve forgotten someone, isn’t it? I’m working on something at the moment that I hope will help with this. I’ll be in touch with you soon 🙂
Great list Tegan! A terrific resource. I also like Anna Spargo-Ryan’s perspective, and Angie from The Little Mumma, and of course Edenland. What they share and how they write is so raw. It’s inspiring and deeply moving. Thanks so much for linking up. x
I am massive fans of Five degrees and Finding Myself Young. I haven’t heard of the others, so will check them out.
Tegan
I am so honoured to be included – truly humbled.
Thanks for also introducing me to some blogs I hadn’t heard of. I’ll check them out ASAP.
I’m always looking for other bloggers to swap posts with as well to keep everything fresh and provide many different views and experiences. I’m especially interested in peoples treatment experiences – medication, counselling, ECT anything.
Thanks again and hope to catchup on one of my business trips up your way

Cool post.
