What I really want for Mother’s Day

Welcome to another week here at The Lounge.  This week the theme is all about Mother’s Day.  So settle in, grab a drink and share your posts below!

As the big day, that is Mother’s Day for those of you living under a rock, approaches the catalogues and businesses have started their special ideas for a present for the Mum in your life.  There is a massive range of things from appliances to chocolate and even sex toys, because that wouldn’t be an awkward present at all!  All of them scream that they have the perfect present for your mum, just empty out your pockets and she’ll be happy.

I love receiving presents, but around here they are less than inspired because it’s usually me who goes out and buys them!  I however draw the line at wrapping it myself so I make Paul and Mr 4 go and get a card and at least a gift bag to put it all in.

This year I have been wracking my brain trying to think of something that my heart desires but I keep coming up empty.  I’m not one of those mums who insists that you can’t buy appliances, as long as it’s not an iron or vacuum cleaner!  For Christmas a couple of years ago I asked Paul to buy me a set of pots and pans, and the previous year a food processor.  I just don’t see the point in buying something that I am not going to use.

If money was absolutely no object, I would love to go away for the weekend.  Somewhere warm where I can enjoy the beach and just relax…I might even take Paul and Mr 4 along with me 😉  I have visions of pure white sand, clear ocean lapping the stilts of the bungalow.  Cocktail anyone?  Mother’s Day itself, I would love to spend the day curled up under a blanket with a book.  Then lunch in a little hideaway looking over the ocean with fresh fruit, seafood and decadent desserts.

Unfortunately that’s not really on the cards so we are compromising with a picnic at the beach, where the weather is a little more on the cold side but the views will still be pretty awesome.  There really is something about the beach that just refreshes me and calms my nerves.

What are you doing with your family for Mother’s Day this year?

I have to say, the photo you put up on FB of Bora Bora (?) made me really want to go there…there is something quite alluring about those kinds of photos…while my partner is very keen to go there, our bank balance will not allow…damn reality!

The Kids (I) bought 2 rose plants last year . Was so amazed that we were able to produce dozens of roses that I asked (bought again myself) for 2 more rose plants . On Mother’s Day all I ask is to watch a musical . This year I’ve chosen West Side Story with a ploughmans platter . Happy mums day to you Tegan 😀

Sex toys? Really? I must be reading the wrong catalogues! Yeah not awkward AT ALL.

A picnic at the beach sounds great, Tegan. Hope you enjoy your day. xo

All I want for Mother’s Day is a nappy-free, whinge-free day! It’s the simple things!

Dave and I are actually running 4km in the Mother’s Day Classic. My sister is meeting us there at 7am(!!) and once the run has finished I am thinking of going to Maccas for breakfast. I’d like to go to a cafe but I have a feeling most would be packed or booked, and I really do love a Maccas breakfast and never have them. So a couple of bacon and egg mcmuffins, hash browns, string coffee, with a newspaper, and Punky occupied and happy playing in the playground? Sounds pretty good to me. A voucher for a beauty treatment would be the icing on the cake!

Mother Day in the UK was back in March and I have to confess, I really can’t remember WHAT we did … I haven’t linked up for a while though so I’ll have a rummage through the blog for a perfect day post and link that up if that’s ok. Enjoy your day, I hope it brings you everything you wish for.

My wish for mothers day is that Mic take the boys over to Nan’s and spend the day with her for mothers day. Me? Well I would get up when I am ready, eat breakfast at my own leisure – uninterrupted, sit around, read some of a book, do some sewing maybe and then have a nap. Get woken by the boys when they return, hang out with them while Mic cooks dinner and then I would put the boys to bed and head back there myself. Not going to happen though. Not in my wildest dreams. A voucher for a full body massage would be good too, if they felt the need to buy me a gift that is.

I had a whole week of perfect days and really don’t want to do anything special on Sunday. Your day sounds like perfection to me. Reality is we may have to go out and visit the inlaws although it will be an early visit and early home!! Have a happy mothers day!!

    Hi Tegan

Happy Mothers Day! I hope that whatever you do is relaxing and about you.

I’m taking the whole family out for a picnic in the bush – somewhere with no mobile phone or internet so we are all forced to sit around and actually talk to each other.

Am I the only one that thinks social media is anything but…..

Happy Mothers Day to all the mums with mental health issues. I hope you are able to relax and enjoy a day where you think about you in a really good positive way
