*I received a Thrill by We-Vibe. As always all opinions are my own*
Often when someone slips into a depressive state, the first thing to fall by the wayside is their libido. I know for me personally, when I am in the grips of the Black Dog, the last thing I feel like doing is getting naked and getting my freak on. Especially when I have had to deal with a 4 year old who doesn’t quite understand why Mummy doesn’t want to get out of bed today. However, having sex and reaching orgasm can in fact help to lift your mood.
According to Psychology Today being aroused and reaching climax can help mental health by releasing feel-good endorphins into the brain. These endorphins help to alleviate depression and anxiety while also providing physical benefits such as a boost to our immune system.
Insiders Health also backs this theory and boasts that an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away. While this is most likely not possible in our busy schedules, having sex that induces orgasm has also been proven to help promote healthy sleep. Orgasms lower your blood pressure, which puts the body into a state of calm and relaxed enough that it induces a perfect state for sleep. Better health channel says that the effects of sleep deprivation are similar to being intoxicated and has been linked to an increase in depression and other mental illnesses.
This is all great if you have a sexual partner, but not everyone has the time to either seek a sexual partner or maintain a relationship. That’s where the Thrill by We-Vibe comes in. The Thriller is a new innovation in adult toys and has won multiple awards including Best Female Product – 2013 TWO Awards (United Kingdom), Most Innovative Pleasure Product – 2013 Adultex Awards (Australia) , Highest Potential Product – eroFame 2012 (Germany) and the Powered Pleasure Product of the Year – XBIZ 2013 (USA). The Thrill has a new design that allows g-spot and clitoral stimulation simultaneously.
The Thrill is 100% waterproof which means that you can slip into the bath, enjoy a glass a wine and some special alone time. This great new pleasure product fits into the palm of your hand, so no more large products that have your crossing your legs in anticipation. Also included in your Thriller pack is a carry back which means that you can pack it away from prying eyes. The Thrill boasts a fast 90 minute recharge via USB cable with a 2 hour battery life.
With the touch of one button, the level of pleasure can be altered to suit your mood at the time. The button to change the vibration levels is placed on the clitoral control for ease of access.
Now for the fun part! Not only did I get to road test The Thrill but one lucky reader is going to win one of their very own! All you have to do to go into the draw to win your very own The Thrill is answer this simple question:

Linking up with Essentially Jess for IBOT.
‘An orgasm a day keeps the doctor away’ I agree. I’m single but that certainly doesn’t stop me. There’s the usual things to help lift a low mood, walking, talking to a friend etc but mine is well masturbating. When the child is asleep for the night or in the morning it’s ‘me’ time. Probably no surprise to ghost that know me but I have quite a collection of ‘toys’ my tastes range from vanilla to kinky. The we-vibe sounds like it would become a firm favourite in no time
Great review Tegan! I have to admit, the best way to lift my mood is to slow down, go outside, have a laugh and a cuddle with my boys – always works xx
oops! forget to say hello from #teamIBOT xx
Holy fuck Teegs, no way I am commenting on this, so many doors you just don’t want opened. Notice our Karen made an appearance post haste though 😀
Tegan you saucy minx!!! Lol. My sex toy is my husband!! Lol. Good article relating sex to depression though. You learn something new everyday! To lift my mood I go for a walk or put on my favourite movie. And shopping. Shopping always makes me feel better but not the credit card bill. 🙂
My husband is always trying to convince me that sex will make me feel better and sleep better! Turns out I didn’t need sex to sleep better, I just needed to give up alcohol. As for feeling better, a good hard workout (of the personal training kind, not the bow-chick-a-bow-bow kind) usually lifts my mood. So does shopping! I wouldn’t mind trying one of these, but I dunno about reviewing one! Go you
good thingbrave girl!I’m impressed!!
The we-vibe have been making some great toys, and winning awards for a few years now.
I have to admit that orgasms are the best thing ever to lift your mood. Better then any drug in my opinion. If they could bottle the wave, fireworks and deliciousness released when orgasming they would have a winner! But then that would take away the fun of getting to orgasm now wouldn’t it 😉
Sad i’m in NZ so am not eligible to enter 🙁 but it does sound very intriguing 🙂 might have to google it.
Oh I so hear you on the link between depression and low libido, and for me a lot the medications I’ve had to treat my little eccentricities over the years affect my ability to orgasm, so when I have breaks in medication, poor hubby doesn’t get much break at all coz I want to make the most of it!
Can I have WHOOP WHOOP? What else is there in life that’s free than great sex and orgasms! I mean seriously, life is hard enough without being left high and dry in the bedroom.
So to lift a low mood, I usually put on sad music, have a good old pity party for one, then suck it up, be nice to my husband and then get down to business in the bedroom. My hubby wants to know if it comes with a remote control for him ?? 😉
Em x
What helps lift a low mood? I’m going to say reading through the comments on this post, cause that gave me a great giggle.
Great review Tegan 🙂
Ha ha, I’m not entering, but good on you for tackling another taboo topic. That does look like an impressive gadget!
Ha, I have no qualms about entering this competition!
To lift a low mood, I like to have a glass of wine or a G&T in a bubble bath. So, what better way to make it all the more explosive than to have one of these to crank it up a notch?
You said it was good, let me have a try 🙂
I’ve found that when I am in a really really low mood I head off to the Tattoo Parlour . Good therapy . Replace emotional pain with a bit of physical. Makes me feel alive and is exhilarating.
I find distracting myself from my thoughts always helps, so I can break that cycle of spiraling further down. Getting outside and going for a walk, lying down with my cat for a cuddle, reading an engrossing book or doing some craft or sewing usually works. I also love going opp shopping and poking around for a bargain 🙂
When I’m down I like to distract myself with movies and makeup. Nothing like escaping into the storyline of a great DVD for a few hours, or playing with my makeup, swatching colours and experimenting with new looks. Makeup and movies always cheer me up!
Well you’ve definitely lifted the mood of The Lounge this week! Great review!
I agree!
She lifted my mood for sure 😀
Haha, love that you linked this up for ‘toys’! Although it was odd reading about Robo’s idyllic childhood nostalgia then coming to this page to read about decidedly un-childhood (but perhaps still idyllic?!) toys!
I read when I’m in a low mood. There is always someone worse off – even if it’s a fictional character.
Simple. Start playing with the partner. Always seems to lift the mood. In a private place of course and preferably not infront of other people (unless you’re into that).
I open all the windows and blinds in the house, put on the happiest music I own and sing along, usually loudly and off key. Now my daughter is old enough to dance, she usually does…covering her ears lol.
That thing looks interesting!
I’ve been a vibrator fan since the first time I was brave enough to use one (at the ripe old at of 26). Since then I’ve gone through many a sex toy and have used masturbation as a means to relax and escape. It is the best thing ever for getting to sleep. I have been using my new mindfulness skills to notice when my mind wanders in the middle of a late night session – to notice the thought, accept it, then gently come back to the source of the good feeling ‘down there’.
Masturbation really is great depression therapy!
Good review, Tegan.
