*I received a sample pack of Water Buddies. All opinions are my own*
I’ve been blessed with a munchkin who loves drinking water. He doesn’t turn his nose up when he is offered water but sometimes he has juice for a bit of change of pace. The trouble is, juice is filled to the brim with sugar, both added and natural. My teeth are horrid from too much sugar and not enough brushing and this is not something that I want for my child but I also don’t want him to feel that he’s missing out. That’s where Water Buddies comes in.
Water Buddies has a miniscule 1.8% sugar and makes the promise of NO JUNK. These fruity drinks come in 4 flavours (Real Yum Raspberry, Awesomely Orangey, Goodie Goodie Grape and Kiwi Fruit and Strawbs) and a pure water option. Water Buddies contain New Zealand Spring Water with a splash of natural flavours, meaning they get to boast having no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners. Each bottle has it’s own character, including a joke or fact, which Mr 4 absolutely loved. He pulled each bottle out of the carry bag, asking me to tell him the name and the cool fact.
Water Buddies were created by mum Sian Leonard from Takapuna, New Zealand after being frustrated at the lack of fun, healthy options to get her children to drink water. This product has certainly nailed that wonderfully. Each product was packaged in bright colours which drew Mr 4 to them immediately (he was also a little bit chuffed to get a package all to himself). He loved that each bottle had a different character on them, especially the robot!
I was quite surprised with the flavour. When I read that the product was spring water I expected the metallic taste that most bottled water contains but there was no trace of that at all. The flavours weren’t overpowering and instead provided a nice subtle lift to the already delicious water. Mr 4 loved the plain water and the Kiwi and Strawbs flavour. Upon asking him what he thought of them, he said that he liked the water robot and they were cool!
Water Buddies are available in Australia and New Zealand. You can find them in Woolworths and leading independent stores including New Zealand Natural Ice Cream Stores.

My son is also 4 and would love the Robot one.
These sound great. My son drinks a lot of water but does like the occasional apple juice (I get a bit bored of plain water myself and I drink it by the gallon!). These sound like a good option to try when the need for change arises 🙂

My ‘go to’ drink is coke, which is am slowly changing to home made iced coffee as the acid in the softdrinks really does nothing for our insides (not that the ridiculous amount of sugar from the icecream is doing me favours, but I am slowly weaning myself from caffeine and softdrinks). My boys get water, we take their water bottles with us most of the time but like you, don’t want them to feel as though they are missing out, but don’t want to buy them softdrink or juice just for them to ‘have a treat’. This water is a great idea as I would rather buy this for them and have them think they are getting something special, but keep me happy at the same time.
Look good, it’s hard to find healthy treats.
choc milk is my go to drink, its addictive and i need to get some wilpower!
my daughter would love to try it as she is so fussy and hard to find things that are healthy that she likes.
I love water, but my downfall is coffee, im addicted 😛
I love diet coke, but my kids live milk and water luckily.
For me its plain water which I carry in my stainless steel water bottle..
My main ‘Go To’ drink of choice is tap water
A hot, strong cup of tea!
Coffee!
My go to beverage is probably water- I drink a lot of it. I get very thirsty because I’m breastfeeding at the moment. I do really love my coffee first thing in the morning though! 🙂
Real Yum Raspberry sounds yummy! I have to admit that I struggle to drink plain water, although thankfully, my kids are better at it! My ‘go to’ drink of choice is Iced Coffee, although I was horrified the other day when I actually read the nutritional info and discovered there was over 600 calories in my favourite brand…! Perhaps I should be trying the flavoured waters, too…!
My go to drink in the day is definitely coffee, but changes to a good glass of red wine at night. My kids don’t usually have softdrinks, but would love these different fruit flavoured drinks.
I’m a BIG water drinker. I drink at least 2 bottles a day. I know at night if I haven’t had enough as I can easily down 3 glasses at once!
Water for Dora 🙂
Iced Tea! Flavoured Ice tea, preferably Peach 🙂
Water for me, but I do love the occassional glass of lemon, lime and bitters.
I drink Coke Zero or Pepsi Max, but the kids only drink water. They occasionally have a juice, and once a year they have a cup of soft drink.
My go-to drink.. Well, there’s not just one. Some days I drink a lot of water, but others (especially cold days) I mostly drink tea, coffee or hot chocolate. During summer I like to start my day with a healthy fruit smoothie!
Soda water. Yay for soda stream!
My go to drink is ice cold filtered water 🙂
