Lounging time again! Robo is our loverly host this week and has gone with the theme BBQ.
I’m going to share with you a recipe we use on the BBQ that is simply delicious. The best part about it is that even if you aren’t a fancy pants with a Barbie the size of a small car, you can make these. I have even done them in a fry pan on the stove. They are that versatile!
Prawn and Bacon Rollups

Ingredients
- 1kg Prawns, peeled with tails left on. (King Prawns work best)
- 1kg Bacon, the less fat the better
- Sweet Chilli Sauce
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Skewers or toothpicks
Method
- In a bowl, mix together sweet chilli sauce and a few splashes of Worcestershire Sauce.
- Place the Prawns into the sauce mixture, making sure to cover all prawns well. Leave them to marinate for at least 2 hours. Ultimately the longer the better.
- Cut the bacon into strips wide enough to cover the middle of the prawns.
- Wrap each prawn in a strip of bacon, using the skewers or toothpicks to hold it in place.
- Cook on the BBQ!
The sweet chilli sauce creates a nice glaze on the bacon, making these morsels a delight! Whenever they appear at a BBQ they don’t last long! For something different you can also use crab sticks.
What is your favourite thing to cook on the BBQ?
I do these ALL the time! They’re the best!
They are! So easy to prepare as well.
Proof I really AM a bogan. I’ve never thrown a ‘shrimp’ on the barbie. Besides they’re prawns anyway. 😛
These do look really yummy though. *drools*
Details, details.
Ooh, yummy! These look like a great option. I don’t cook much seafood on the bbq – must give these a go.
I must admit outside fish in foil we hadn’t really cooked much seafood on the bbq but these changed my mind quick smart!
Omg I want these so bad, but the dr said I cant have prawns while pregnant.
Trent does all the cooking on the bbq and he loves cooking any type of meat, doesn’t matter what it is as long as its meat.
Ohh I don’t miss all of the food restriction from being pregnant!
My husband will LOVE this recipe – but he will have to cook it himself. The BBQ is his area of expertise 🙂
haha yes my partner mans the BBQ too. Quite happy for that too as it means he has to clean it as well!
Oh they look fantastic! Surf and turf baby! Well surf and mud anyway.
Awwww yum yum! I haven’t had prawns for a while, and never like these! Just delish – thanks! Cheers, Alison
Yummo, these look fantastic. We also use Prawn and mango on kebab sticks then bbq them. x
Yumness! I rarely cook prawns on the BBQ. I’m not a real aussie it seems. I just eat them raw. You know what I mean. Cooked, then cold. I’m so doing this next time it stops raining and being Arctic.
YUM! You are quite the domestic goddess Teeg. We mainly stick to snags and steak but this has inspired me to lift my game! Plus I know the boys would love them.
