You’re Excused

I’m liking up again with Kirsty at My Home Truths for I must confess.  it’s a bare all link up that allows you confess your sins.  You can either go with the theme of the week or confess your own dark secret.  This weeks prompt is ‘Reality Tv’.  I gulped when I read the prompt..unsure if I should let you all in on my love of the inappropriate reality tv show..the trashier the better for me!

My love of Reality Tv started with a show on Arena TV whose name escapes me at the moment but it was a dating show.  The idea was that it was a group date, each date would try their best to wow the contestant with their *ahem* skills.  Each round one of the *dates* would be knocked out until the contest was left with their ideal date.  This show wasn’t really a program that made forever afters. I think it was more about the ‘wham bam thank you mam’ kind of date, but I didn’t care, it was interesting to watch the lengths people would go to, to win the affections of a stranger.

I usually lose interest half way through a series of a reality show like Master Chef, My Kitchen Rules etc but I love the different contestants each week of shows like Snog Marry Avoid and Excused.  There’s something about people are their most vulnerable that intrigues me.  Dating life sucks? Go on international television and show the world how much you suck.  Some of the people on these shows seem genuinely nice. While others you can see that there isn’t any room for someone to love anyone but themselves.

I’m also a little partial to a bit of Hoarders and How Clean is Your House.  I watch an episode of one of these and suddenly my house doesn’t seem so bad.  One family hadn’t cleaned their house since they moved in 10 years before!  Ick, it’s making my skin crawl just thinking about it now.  Nothing like a bit of Reality Television to make your partner grateful for what he’s got!

I think I might need a lesson or two in reality TV shows, they seem to have taken on a new meaning since I last watch television. Off to google Snog Marry now. This week’s topic has been a real eye opener.

Not sad, it’s a coping mechanism…one that is pretty healthy really.

Yes…I agree Tegan. Watching those Hoarder shows or ones about How Clean is My House always make me feel great. However….whatever the reality program I usually get sucked in! My escapism!!
