Another person for a day

Welcome to The Lounge.  Grab and drink and make yourself comfortable.  Have you got a tale to tell?  This week the topic of the moment is ‘If you could be anyone for a day who would you be?’  If you’ve already mused about this before, never fear because we love a vintage tale around here.

I have thought about this topic quite intensely this week.  I didn’t want to just choose any old person.  What if the person I decided to go with turned out to be a big old douche canoe?  What a waste of a chance that would be.  I have a feeling something like this would only come along once in a lifetime.

You’re probably thinking I am sounding a bit nutty at the moment, going on as if this could be a real possibility.  But hey, a girl can dream can’t she?  With all the advances they are making in science, who knows what we can do in the future.  Or I could go Face Off style and just steals someone’s identity.  Although that seems a little drastic, I just want a test drive, not a lock-in contract.

Enough with the rambling…if I could be anyone for a day I would be a man.  That’s right, just a run of the mill man.  I want to know what it’s like to move through life as a man, to be treated differently because of the genitalia that I was born with.  I think it would be interesting to see the difference.

I would still do everything that I do now, and see the different way that I am treated by women and other men because I am doing something ‘non-traditional’.  I predict that there would be a stark difference in the way that people interact with me, especially at school pick up and drop off.

Then there is the silly stuff.  I’d like to see what it’s like to be able to whip out my penis and pee and see if it really is as hard to aim as the males in my house seem to find it.  Seriously, I have found wee on the wall above the cistern in the toilet!  I wonder if I would feel the need to check my bits were still there too?

I think I would be ready to change back after a day.  I bemoan the biology of being a woman and get really sick and tired of the sexist stereotyping but on the whole I do enjoy being a woman.  Or maybe I just don’t know any different?

Who would you be for a day?

Have you wondered what it is like to be the opposite sex?

There, you go, I thought I’d be the only person not being a person in power to make a world altering decision…mine was also male, but that was incidental…

Yep, definitely male. And more to the point, make influential males in positions of power be women for a month, at least.

My Mum has always said she’s coming back as a man for as long I can remember. It would be interesting, wouldn’t it? I’m surrounded by males, so it might help me understand them better!
