While you are reading this, I will hopefully be enjoying our first proper holiday as a family. We have gone on weekends away here and there, but this is the first time we are doing the tourist holiday. This is something that I have been looking forward to doing for a while.
When I was growing up and even after I had moved out of home, my parents always took us on tourist holidays. I was really lucky growing up. We often went to the same places and did the same things, but why play with something that works.
I have great memories of going on holidays. My parents are known for their spur of the moment trips and we’d often jump in the car on a Friday afternoon to go on an adventure.
Mr 5 and I have also been lucky to head off on holidays with my parents and brother. My brother and Mr 5 experienced their first plane ride on our first holiday. I have to say it was much nicer to travel for an hour instead of 6 or 7! I wish that I had taken photos of us on the plane. Mr 5, at 5 months also went to his first theme park, Dreamworld. He slept through most of it and it was definitely a different experience with a baby.
The second holiday with my parents was a little bitter sweet. It was during the floods of 2011. What started out as a week away at my parent’s house to have some time out, turned into 6 weeks because I was flooded in. I was so upset that Paul wasn’t able to spend Christmas with us, but I am glad that Mr 5 wasn’t old enough to realise. I’m thankful that I was able to stay with my parents as I know of others who were stranded and had to pay out for accommodation. Just after New Years we travelled to Townsville for a week. It was so relaxing.
I’m looking forward to making a lot of awesome memories this week!

Happy holidaying. A time to create special memories 🙂
