This week the prompt for I must confess is ‘what would it be hard for you give up. There was a ton of things that went through my mind when I was thinking of what I couldn’t give up. I’m not sure I could dedicate a post to just one of them, so here is my top things I couldn’t give up.
Accommodation with amenities: Paul wants to go camping. I laugh at him every time he brings it up. I do not ‘do’ camping, unless said campsite has a cabin. My idea of ‘roughing it’ is having to walk to a toilet block to shower.
Writing There have been times when due to the medication I was on, I wasn’t able to write much. It was hard and horrible. I don’t ever want to be in that position again. Writing is one of the few positive coping skills that I have, I don’t want to lose it.
Blogging Blogging is different to writing. I can write, whether I have a medium to publish it to or not. Blogging creates a platform, a community to take you in when things are going pretty shit. The power of the blogging world is pretty awesome when it’s put to good use!
Smart Phone I know, I know, how stereotypical Gen Y of me but it’s true. I lost my phone a couple of years ago and told myself that I would make do with the dodgy nokia I had. I lasted half a day before I was contacting my teleco to ask about a new phone. I missed being able to have all of the conveniences at the touch of a button. I love being able to check my bank account, have my emails accessible and social media to while away the time when waiting for public transport.
ABC4Kids Anyone with kids will agree that this channel can be an absolute saviour! Even if they have decided to move Playschool to 330pm instead of 430pm when I start getting ready for dinner!
Friends I know it’s corny, but it’s true. I couldn’t do without the friends who just get me. The friend who knows not to completely freak out when I text her saying I have been having self harm thoughts. The friend who doesn’t try to call the authorities when you’ve had a bad day and are ready to sell your kid on Ebay. The friend who can match me drink for drink and shares my love for Housos. The friend who gives the no nonsense advice, even if I send her a FB message at 2am.
I hope that I don’t have to give up any of these things in the near future. I like these things and most of them definitely make my life easier.
What would you find hard to give up?
I’m with you on the first 4! I always have to go to the loo at least twice a night – the more I try not to, the worse it gets! As far as friends – as long as I have my fam I’m all good xxx
We just attempted camping over the weekend. I’m kind of glad things didn’t go according to plan.
Yes yes yes to all of these! Not keen to go proper camping til the kids are older..
I agree there is different to blogging and writing, actually Always Josefa wrote about it today, not all agree with you or I though.. xx
Hmmm… I’d find it hard to give up yoga as it’s my ultimate sanity relief! That and my partner who is so incredibly supportive and understanding. Right behind that would be my smartphone and ABCkids though! 😉
agree with all of yours! Very true!!
All of the above minus the “writing”. I don’t considering myself to be a “writer” just a girl who types up her thoughts and shares them with whoever is willing to take the time to read. I would struggle not to blog now I have started. I would die without any technology and internet… I could not live without internet! Agree about camping, I’m not a fan at all.
Add wifi to this list and that would be me too!
Reading this made me giggle Tegan. I think we were related in another life! I too thought I could not live without all that stuff. Then we took a year out of the rat-race, sold our stuff and travelled the world with our kids. Amazingly after that I quite like camping (mostly because hubby does all the work – makes it easy for me!) And right now I can’t even tell you where my phone is! It’s not even connected to a network here in Malaysia even thought it’s something crazy like $3 a week to have it on! I thought I would miss my friends more – but I make new friends all the time and the old ones that count stay in touch. And they now have the option to visit me in Malaysia for a beach break! lol
With the exception of ABC Kids (being childless) I totally get all the rest of your list!! How good are those friends!! Glad you have all those things in your life to help you through! 🙂
