Love is…

This week the prompt for I must confess is Love.  The word love means different things to everybody.  Here is what it means to me.

Love is..that powerful feeling that comes from deep within.  It can make your heart stop and your stomach feel like there is a 1000 butterflies living in your stomach.

Love is..the emotion that stops you from beating your partner over the head with a club when they do something ridiculously stupid, that makes you so bad you might explode.

Love is..curling up on the couch watching a movie that you’ve seen more times than you count because you love to see the smile on your little guys face.

Love is..peeling prawns on a hot summer’s day when you’d rather be enjoying a cold beverage.

Love is..multifaceted.  It is the unconditional love you feel for your beautiful child, even when they are driving you up the wall.  It is being able to to see the small things that make a person who they are.

Love is..the support you get from friends and family when things have gone sour.  It is the reassuring messages when you are struggling to see the light through the all encompassing darkness.

Love is..respectful.  Love is not about imbalance, it is about complementing each other.  Love brings out the best in us.

Love is..fierce.  It creates a fire deep within us that allows us to keep moving when we think we can’t possibly take another step.

Love is..a flower presented to a Mummy from a rough and tumble boy who thinks she is beautiful.

Love is..the cheeky grin that you can’t help but smile at.  It is the funny little things our loved ones do, the things that we remember when things are on a downward spiral.

What does love mean to you?

Love is that swelling of pride and goodwill towards someone when they excel. Love is that heart breaking pain when they fail and there’s nothing you can do about it.

    Nice post!

Oh I love that and it’s so true. It’s hard to see the heartbreak on our kids face and not go all mama bear on the person who caused their pain.

I just read John Greens The Fault in Our Stars and loved this quote on what love is.

“Some people don’t understand the promises they’re making when they make them,” I said.

“Right, of course. But you keep the promise anyway. That’s what love is. Love is keeping the promise anyway.”

Oh I love this!!! I am lucky enough to have the most incredible husband and to me he is my definition of love! Gosh that sounds dorky… but it’s true and I definitely know how lucky I am to have found him! xx

Not dorky at all! I say when you find someone who makes your heart sing then you should sing it from the rooftops!

    Lovely post…
Love is…when my nephew climbs up on my lap and wants a hug…(and that it’s still cool for him to do that even though he just turned 7!)

I’m hoping that is a typo and you mean ‘not turning your back to your loved ones’…

Love fucking hurts. It is impermanent and changeable. Anais Nin said “Do not seek the because – in love there is no because, no reason, no explanation, no solutions.” and also “Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” and also “I am only responsible for my own heart, you offered yours up for the smashing my darling. Only a fool would give out such a vital organ”

And Alison says, love tethers me to this world like a balloon with a lead weight attached. But tomorrow I may feel different 🙂

This is beautiful! What a great idea for a post.

My son melted my heart this morning, and defined love, when he wanted to kiss my belly (where his little brother is growing) and he proceeded to kiss it in different spots about 6 times!! x

I’ve only just managed to get to this one too! And to be honest, I don’t know what love is anymore, well not in the lovey dovey sense. I know that love is as Masha said “Not turning your back to your loved ones when they succumb to their self-destroying behaviors.” And then Allison “Anais Nin said “Do not seek the because – in love there is no because, no reason, no explanation, no solutions.”

But sometimes I feel so shitty where I am right now because although we are trying, I just don’t feel all squishy inside 🙁
