Time of our lives

family together happyI’m going to be a bit soppy this week for I must confess.  I ran through my mind (I was hella puffed after that) all of the ideas I could think of to pick my one ‘best ever’ moment I couldn’t just pick one.  Life is made up of a series of moments and my favourite ones are those spent with my little family.

Devil Papa doesn’t live at The Funny Farm so our time is about quality over quantity.  I love spending time with just us.  Time where we can do what we want to do with no pressure from anyone else.

Our favourite thing to do is pack up the car with buckets and fishing rods, then head to the beach.  We have a beach that we go to regularly, that has a ton of rock pools where we try to find crabs and other sea wildlife.  It doesn’t matter what the temperature is, Devil Spawn always gets in the water.

The beach still hasn't recovered from the cyclone at the start of the year

The beach still hasn’t recovered from the cyclone at the start of the year

We walk from from one rock formation to another looking in all of the crevices to see what lives inside.  Depending on the tides we can sometimes even find fish in some of the deeper pools.  DS has a bucket and picks up shells and little trinkets along the way.

Our favourite beach also has every parents dream.  A playground with a fence around it.  Every playground needs a fence.  They are so much less stressful if you have a runner.  Fenced parks have made our mums groups much more enjoyable.  Anyone who has contact with toddlers knows that once one child does something..the chances of the rest following suit is pretty high.

surfing toddlerOnce the playing has been done we track down a fish and chip shop and enjoy lunch on the beach.  Occasionally we drive to the next town (20km away) and check out the Singing Ship..which unfortunately hasn’t sung since the cyclone in January.

DS is a real water baby and loves the beach, especially if he gets to use his ‘catching rod’.  The best part about a trip to the beach is that it tires DS out so we all get to have an early night and get a decent sleep.  No sleep dodging after a beach trip!

Linking up with Kirsty from My Home Truths for I must confess.  Jump over and check out the other confessions!

haha I must admit that I am not too keen on getting too close to the rock pools with my bare feet.

So true. There is always something new to be found in the rockpools.

It’s one of those easy peasy things to do with kids because it just entertains without having to do much else.

Sounds Fabulous! Now that our youngest is 4 we are getting out and about and being so much more adventurous. I know you can still do things when they are younger but as they get older its SO much easier and more enjoyable for everyone, like the fence around the playground, as he’s gotten older I can actually relax a little 😉
Those simple times together are the best!

Your smile in that top photo is GORGEOUS.

I love seeing smiles like that – all your (beautiful) words that follow could never explain half as much as seeing that joy on your face. Xxxx

I think we can all make that confession. What a lovely memory though he’ll have spending countless hours in the beach, in the sun, fishing and playing with his family. Lucky boy 🙂

He definitely loves the beach. We can’t mention we are going until we are just about heading out the door or he bugs us for hours asking when we are going lol.

The simple things in life are often the best. You couldn’t pay for moments like these. So many adults have fond memories of going to the beach or park with their family. These memories stay with them forever. DS will always remember!!

I love being around water – not necessarily the sea but just being able to look at water. I would have loved to have property on water but now we are looking at acerage maybe we will have a dam instead (although that isn’t quite the same !!!)
I love how the fresh air and running around tires DS out so he has a great sleep !
    Have the best day !

I’m a water baby too. I used to love swimming in the creek near our town. Much to my mums disgust I think as it wasn’t the cleanest lol

Hanging at or near the beach is a great way to pass the time isn’t it? Sadly there are too many months of the year here that make the water not safe and the sand just too hot. Sigh.

I wish we lived closer because there really is nothing more relaxing than walking along the beach.

I love going to the beach its one of my favourite things to do and I cant wait to do it with our daughter when she is born. I wish we had some beaches around here with rockpools though that would be a whole other level of fun.
