I’ve chosen to show you my Top 5 Movies and Books.  Strap in for the ride Loungers!

Movies

Number 1. Rocky Horror Picture Show.  I have loved this movie forever.  Really. I don’t usually like musicals but this one pushes all of the buttons for me! Plus who doesn’t love a hot bloke in a corset.

2. Despicable Me.  If you haven’t seen, run, don’t walk, go see it.  It’s so fluffeh!

3.  Silver Linings Playbook.  This movie still sticks with me.  I cried like a bitch while watching it.  Thank fuck I was on my own.  Also…Bradley Cooper.

Books

1.  April Fools Day by Bryce Courtenay.  I felt like my heart was being ripped out reading this.  Bryce Courtenay was such a beautiful story teller.  His stories are an acquired taste but they way he tells them make you feel like are part of the story.

2.  Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich.  Yes I know it’s not one book but I can’t pinpoint just one book of the series that I like.  It’s a perfect mix of comedy, crime solving and sex.  Oh yes there is sex.

3.  Get Me out of Here: My Recovery from Borderline Personality Disorder by Rachel Reiland.  This is one of the few books on Borderline that shows the person recovering.  It gives me hope.

4.  My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult.  This was the first book by Jodi Picoult that I read.  It pulled at the heart strings and the way she used each of the characters to tell their own story was awesome.  The movie, as always was shit compared to the book.  They completely ruined the ending.

5.  Juliet by Anne Fortier.  I read this book as part of my book club.  It was one of those books that surprised me.  I expected it to be a sappy love story but it blew me away with a sleuth and adventure twist.

What are your Top 5?  If you don’t have a blog then never fear.  Hop on over to the Facebook Page to share.

I LOVE Despicable Me! Can’t wait for the 2nd one to come out. It’s one of those few kids’ films that I’m happy for them to watch over and over ‘cos I notice new background visuals each time. Very clever. Thanks for hosting the link up today 🙂

Morelli? Or Ranger? Morelli? Or Ranger? I think I have to choose Morelli! I am in love with Morelli! Stephanie Plum is one of my fave series of books too. I started reading them when I found them in the bookshop in the city near where I used to work, over 10 years ago and I have since gotten all of my friends and family hooked on them too! I don’t even care that the last few have been a bit the same/same, doesn’t bother me. As long as Morelli is in there I’m happy! In fact, my car is named Stephanie after our favourite bounty hunter. Did you ever see the movie version of One for the Money? I haven’t seen it because 1. I don’t want it to ruin the books by making me imagine them in the characters as I read, and 2.I absolutely can NOT stand Katherine Heigl. Urgh! She pisses me off so much! I could write a whole rant about that! And don’t even get me started on the movie version of My SIster’s Keeper. By changing the ending they changed the meaning of the entire story. Not happy Jan!

My sisters are coming over tomorrow night and we are gonna watch Silver Linings Playbook. Are you telling me I should really get to the shops and buy those tissues we forgot to get on the weekend? Hormonally pregnant me is probably gonna need them based on your post I think!

Hmmm yeh I think I would go for Morelli too just because he is so upfront. Not sure about his crazy grandmother though. All of the books are a bit same same but I love them for a bit of light reading. I refuse to watch the movie because it was such a big flop.

Yes especially if you are pregnant you will need tissues!

I can’t believe I forgot The Lion King!! It was an awesome stage show too!! I forgotET too!! Doh!!
Don’t get me started on My Bloody Sisters Freaking Keeper shithouse movie. I stayed up late one night, tissues ready, watching the movie and I could not believe how the movie makers butchered the ending. I really hate that. Its the same with all the John Grisham movies, the books are way better.
Will be back to check out all the other posts sometime over the weekend!!

The only thing that I have ever seen that the on screen version did better than the book is Dexter. I started reading the series a couple of months ago and couldn’t finish them because they were so slow going.

1, 3 and 4 in your movies list awesome. I also saw The Rocky Horror Show live at the theatre a couple of times, second time dressed in a basque (corset I think you might call it) and little else – oh impetuous skinny youth. I also watched the movie tripping off my head on acid with my girl chum Lindsay. Was amazing – it was in 3D. Only, it wasn’t actually in 3D. Those lips…

Books wise my tastes run to science fiction, horror, occasional murder mystery and sometimes the classics. If I were to start listing all my fav movies, books etc we’d be here all week 🙂

I still laugh my head off at Despicable Me and Mr 3 went through a stage of watching it everyday!

What is WRONG with me? I’ve never seen any of those movies. I seriously need to get out more. Can’t believe I’ve never even seen Despicable Me. My boys keep on torturing me with Spiderman instead. Hmph.

Love your list. Totally agree on April Fools Day. Apart from The Power of One, I don’t like most other Bryce Courtenay books. But April Fools Day is my all-time favourite. It’s so raw and powerful. And ANGRY. I love that he didn’t tone down Benita’s sections.

And Mufasa. I’m crying just THINKING about. Somebody! Anybody. Help. ALL THE TEARS.

I picked up “One for the Money” in a second hand book shop in Turkey while I was travelling – it was the start of a lifelong love affair with Trenton, wacky old ladies, former ho’s and of course MORELLI! And Girl, Interrupted is one of my favourites too.
Thank you for being such a wonderful host oh Queen of Awesome xxx
